Masteraton, April IG. • At a meeting of the committee of the Masteiion Competitions held last cveniii" o letter was read from.Mr. B.vron Brown" of Otaki, congratulating tho society upon Hie excellent syllabus drawn up for the next competitions. Mr. D. li. Olough, who is leaving the district, resigned his position as a. member of tho commit tee, and Mr. C. Hausinann was appointed lo the vacancy. Mr. C. Spencer C'ompton presented a full report of his organising tour, which was considered highly satisfactory. It was decided that at future competitions winning competitors be allowed to take either cash or open-orders for Ihe purchase of trophies. The first meeting of tho Central Committee set up by the Wnirarapa Hospital and Charitable Aid Board was held yestrrday, when Mr. D. J. Cameron was elctted chailman. It was decided to dispense with tho services of the secretaries at Cireytown ami Pahiatua, and to thank tlieni for the manner in which they had carried out tlioir duties. The committee dccided to visit the Grcytown and l'ahiatua Hospitals at an early date, to acquaint themselves with the internal arrangements at these institutions. Mr. T. AV. M'Master, who has for some time been a member of tho operating staff at tho Masterton l'ost Office, but who is about to leave for Sydney to take a position with the 'Australasian Wireless Company, was presented by tho staff of the local office with a handsome travelling bag. At a meeting of 'the District Nursing Committee, held yesterday, leave of absenco was- granted to District Nurfo .Tones during tho month of Mov. Miss M. Nickless, tho newly-appointed muse for ihe Eketaiiuna district, reported that she would be ready to commence duty on April 23. ■
