FIRE AT KARORI.

At about 5.30 yesterday afternoon_ a five-rooined liouso in Johnston Street, Karon, occupied by Mr. Frederick Bignall Davey, a photo enlarger, was totally destroyed, nnd with it the wholo of tho contents. Mr. 'W. H. Mill, a son-in-law ,of Mr. Davey's, who was living in tho house, noticed tho fire as he was returning home from work, but he was able to save only a few chrtirs and a picture or £o. Ten men from tho Northland Volunteer Firo. Brigado arrived on the sceno, but by that timo could do nothing. A bucket brigado saved the noxt-door house, occupied by Mr. Arthur Moutton. Tho furniture was insured for XISO, though it is said to considerably exceed that amount in value. A quantity of uninsured stock-in-trade, also, was in tho building.
