THE CAPITOL CLUB,
' The annual meeting of the Capitol Lacrosso Club wag held in Montgomery's. Eooms, when Mr. A. Montgomery presided over a largo attendance of members. Tho report and balance-sheet, which showed tho club to bo in n flourishing and financial position, woro read ' and adopted. ' Tho chairman, in his address, congratulated tho club on winning tho Proud Cup for the 1912 season, with tho splendid record of: Matches played 9, won 7, lost 1, drawn 1, goals for 61, against 22. Tho club was well represented in tho Wellington team which visited Auckland last vcar. by Messrs. M. Andrews, L. Cornlie, F. Hublxird, and J. Renlrin. Prospects for tho coming season are promising, and several new members were elected. Officers for tho ensuing year were elected as follow: —Patron, Mr. B. Clouston; jjresident, Mr. J. P. Luke; vice-presidents, Messrs. A. A. Corrigan, G. Sliirtcliffe, R. Fletcher, T. Young; lion, secretary and treasurer, Mr. M. F. Andrews; captain, Mr. E. Eonkin; vice-captain, Mr. P. Hubbard; Management Committee, Messrs. W. Coard, J. Eenkin, P. Wootton,- and AV. Turner; delegates to Wellington Lacrosse Association, Messrs. M. Andrews and A. Jautke. RUGBY FOOTBALL. ORIENTAL V. "DREADNOUGHT." Tho following will represent the Oriental Football Club in a match against a team from H.M.S. Nev; Zealand at the Athletic Park at 3 p.m. on Thursday next:—Houlihan, ' Carmichael, Kinvlg, Dingle, M'Leod, Owles, M'Combie, Rankin, Perry, Bennett, M'Phcrson, Gillespie, Gair, G. King, M'llwraith. POLO. •AUCKLAND TOURNAMENT. (By Telesraph.—Special Correspondent.) Te Awamutu, April 15. Considerable interest centres in the Auckland provincial polo tournament which started at the Greenhill Polo Grounds, Te Awamutu, to-day. There were a large number of visitors from all parts of the province. Six teams aro entered, viziHamilton—W. H. Hume, R. J. Dodd, A. L. Yule, and J. C. Potts; emergency, W. Wilson. Ohaupo—W. Taylor, F. Potts, J. Graham, R. Atkinson. Cambridge—lnnes, Taylor, H, Crowthcr, F. Vosper, C. Peake. Waitomo—J. C. Miller, W. J. Hunt, C. M'Donald, B. Board; emergency, E. Martin. To Awamutu A—Messrs. A. G. Kay, J. R, Kay, F. Taylor, A. Taylor. Te Awamutu B—Messrs. G. Teasdale, J. Teasdale, D. Kay, H. Kay; emergency, H. Do L. Peake. The weather was favourable, and tho turf firm after the heavy rains yesterday. The first , round was begun this morning. To Awamutu B beat Cambridge, 7—5. It was a good, fast game, and very exciting at the end of the fourth spell. Ohaupo led Waitomo by 2—o. Te Awamutu A and Hamilton aro to play this afternoon. ■ Matches for the handicap cup commence on Wednesilay, and the tournament will not concludo until Saturday. Local interest is the greater on account of tho Te Awamutu team being rumiers-up at tho Sayillo Cup competition at Palmerston North last week.
