Speaking at a meeting of farmers held at Feilding last week to, discuss tho advisability of establishing freezing works for tho Manawatu and Kangitikci districts, Mr. J. Morrison raid that New Zealand" was going in for fat lainb freezing. The day of wethers had gone. Lambs must be got rid of ( as soon as they were fat. The. freezing seasons were al«o being curtailed, and 110 thought a large plant should be put in if they wero going to make a start. He agreed that a site should not be selected. yet, but he objected to Wellington, as being too far away, and instanced long delays ' he had experienced in trucking away sheep. Mr. W. Ciiesen said that t'Jioy had million sheep in tlie district. Ho was finite neutral as to tho site, but the ! southern farmers favoured Foxton. It • was urged that the cost of lightering • would be much less there than harbour ' dues in Wellington, and they could start to buy at 7d. per head better, than at Wellington.
