MOTOR-CYCLE CARNIVAL.

NUMEROUS ENTRIES'. Entries for tho motor cycle race meeting to bo hold at Trcntlwtn on Saturday next; havo oxceodcd expectations. Ono hundred and nineteen havfc been rcc<uvcd, and itt eoiiio of tho cvente'cnliios arc so numerous that tho raccs will havo to be run in, boats. Tho heats will run Mom lunch, tho first at noon, immediately alter tilio arrival of tho train, which is expected to bring out some t'hro© or four hundred, officers and inoii of tho N6w Zealand. Tho finals and more important events will l>o run after luncheon, <uid at times to suit t'ho arrival of tho 1.12 p.m. and 1.15 p.m. train from town. The nigger events include tho three and a half horse-power championship of New Zealand, and tho open championship of New Zealand, over a disUinco of ten miles. Tho latter event is limited to bicycbs capable,of doing GO milts nn hour on a grass track, and entries havo been received from Hastings, l'almerston North, anl Uunedin.. Bo far five entries havo been received, and it has been arranged that any rider who shows by his performance in other events Hint he is entitled to compete in. tho biff event shall bo invited to do so.
