'The.rendezvous of tlifi Brooklyn Harriers ou .Saturday was the Kelburne Tea Kiosk, _ when twenty-eight members took part id tho rtin. W. Balldntync and S. Ellis were dispatched with tho, bags, and made the most of fivo minutes given theiii by Hie somewhat ger pnek. The-trail led from the learooins doWn 'through. the Botanical Gardens, and tip tho hill to the Wireless station, theflce down the hill to Wilton's Bush, and back to the starting-point via Ivarori tunnel. handicap run-in was held ov'ei the last 3(10 yards, the honours falling to G. The Wellington Harriers mustered nineteen strong ior their weekly run, which took place from South Karon. \V. B. Bennett and G. .-Weston laid a trail covering a distanceabout eight and'a lialf miles. The course picked out was an excellent one. and comprised numerous water jumps, fences, a smattering of hill work, and plenty ol practically llat country, .Ivhich seemed to prove that previous ill-reports of.the nature of Karon, from a harrier's standpoint, arc unfounded; .and that, provided that layers, who understand their w'ork are sent out, thero are plenty of chances for similar runs without ' traversing the same course. Owing to a slight misunderstanding, some difficulty was experienced by members in locating the rendezvous, and this hfld the' effect of delaying the start. Two packs were dispatched, T. Harrington, vicecaptain, ueing in charge of No. 1 pack. After'about ten minutes' start, ths second pack, composed of tho more-seasoned runners, and under command of tho captain, set Off for a catch. W. Donaldson soon went ,to the front, and made the pace somewhat warm. The second pack had to slow tip just when they were within striking distance of number one pack, 011 account of a few members Of the tirst pack having missed the trail. After a delay of about - ten minutes, to allow the mislead ones to get sufficiently ahead, the fast pack again got under way, with Donaldson as pace-maker. On tho last half-mile tlio two packs amalgamated, and a l'un-in Of about six hundred yards, on the road, resulted in a win for T. J. Kerr, who made the pace from the start, with W. Donaldson second, and K.' Eagle, ft new man, a very close third. After-/ noon. tea was subsequently partaken of at the Karori Park Tea-rdoms. Next Saturday's run will take place from Island Bay.
