(Auckland)— That steps bo taken to prohibit drivers entering into 1 con/tracts or on tlio share system, unless 1 working under partnership ngreement, ■ 'and. having capital at stake in the bitsi- > ness, such partnership agreement to bo m- : valid unless registered."—Agreed to. '.The following was agreed to in tho place , of Auckland's No. 8 remit: —"That the , Drivers' Unions throughout New Zealand i be rrged to 00-operate with tho Labour ■ Representatives' Committees, where such • exist, in securing tho direct representation I of workers on all local bodies, and nominate candidates with thoso bodies, with a :' view to seciring the direct representation - of drivers, and where thero' is no Labour body already in existence for this purpose, : that the Drivors' "Union in that particular > district tako the initiative ill forming a i representation of workers' committeo." It was decided, "That action b© taken t to liavo tho Old Ago Pensions Act amendi ed so that a person of full age_ shall re- - coivo tlie pension as soon as his income t falls below tho minimum, and not, as at , present, be compelled to starve for a year 3 before becoming eligiblo for a pension." 3 Mr. W. E. Woodham (secretary of tho .. Canterbury Traw? and Labour Council) , waited, ,on ..tho conffcrenco and urged its r members to make representations to tho Prime Minister regarding the alleged illtreatment of boys on the Amokum. It , was decided to forward tho following telegram to the Prime Minister:—"New Zea- . land Federation of Drivers' Conference o has heaTd with surprise of tho alleged ill- , treatment of boys on board tho Amokura, it and believes that tho .charges made can II bo substantiated, and asks that a full and d public inquiry lie held immediately into i- the allegations." Canterbury's No. 3 remit -jvas agreed 't to: "That tho Government bo urged to s take in hand all transport work required by the general community."s *jt was decided: "That for the ensuing ? year", the executive committee shall be located in Auckland."
