It may thus bo easily calculated that the number, of women hero who take an interest in the wclfaro of our futuro defenders is greater than is likely to pleaso anti-militarists. The nmmal meeting of tho Wanganui Beautifying Society was held last evening. Tli's Teport showed that .£42G had been expended 011 the work of beautification in different parts of the town and suburbs last year, and that the current year begins with a surphis of J2393. The meeting resolved to allot a sum of .£328 for similar work this year, divided into varying amounts, which will be expended by the various branches in active operation.
