Tho battlc-'cruisor New Zealand will bo off tho .Wellington Heads at 1.15 p.m. to-day, and will drop anchor in tho stream at 2 p.m.. Ministers of tho Crown and members of Parliament aro to go out to tho Heads to meet tho battleship in tho' lutanekai, and heads of Government Departments and their wives, and reprcsonr tatives of tho press will go out in tho lnnemoa. The general public will have an opportunity of making tho excursion in numbers of steamers which will bo running. Nono but those specified will bo taken oft in the Government steamers. Immediately after anchor is dropped. Captain Halsey will conio ashoro to pay the usual official visit to his Excellency tho Governor, and shortly after Captain Halscys return the Earl of Liverpool will B'O oft to tho ship to return tho visit. After his Excellency comes ashore, Ministers of tho Crown will visit Captain Halsey, and on tlioir return tho Mayor and the city councillors and members ot tho Harbour Board will pay an official visit. In the evening tho officers are to be entertained at dinner by the Wellington Club. Following is tho proposed programmo for -the entertainment of tho officers and men, of .11.M.5. New Zealand during tho vessel's stay in Wellington:— Saturday,, April Arrival. Official visit to his Excellcncy tho Governor and' return by his Excellency the Governor. Official visit by members of the Government, City Council, and Harbour Board. Wellington Club dinner (officers).' Monday, April Id.—First' visit of Wairarapa school children. Harbour Ferries Company's picnic at' Day's Bay. Garrison Officers' "social" in evening. Tuesday, April 15.—Second visit of Wairarapa school children. Citizens' ball at Town Hall. Visit to Wercroa State Farm by special train (seamen). i Wednesday, April 16.—First visit' of Manawatu school children. Picnic and sports gathering at Newtown -Park, arranged by Citizens' Reception Committee. Thursday, April 17.—Second visit of Manawatu school children. Visit to Wairarapa by special rain (seamen). Ball at Wellington Club. Friday, April 18.—Luncheon at Town Hall to Captain Halsey and to officers of ship by tho Government. Saturday, April 19.—Cricket match with Welleslcy Club. Orphans' Club reception officers. Motor-cyclo races, Trentham (seamen). Sunday, April 20.—Nbthing arranged at present. .Monday, April 21. —Nothing arranged. Tuesday, April 22.—Nothing arranged. Wednesday, April 23.—Nothing arranged. Thursday, April 21.—Departure. This programmo is, of course, subject to amendment after the ship arrives, but it is at' present tho only programme that has been approved by his Excellency the , Governor. It will be submitted by liis I Excellency to Captain Halsey for approval. If possible other entertainments will ba arranged later. ! A neatlv-designed gilt medal has been struck in Wellington to commemorate the visit to the portlof the first gift battlecruiser. On one sido is a capital impression of HiM.S. New Zealand in low relief (with tho name of the vessel and tho year), and on the reverse sido are the words—"To commemorate tho visit of Now Zealand's gift battleship." Tho medal was selling at Seaton's (Willis Street) very freely throughout yesterday. . OFFICES CLOSE EARLY. , A great number, of ..tho offices in the city which'.usually closo' at 1 p.m. on Saturdays intend to closo at noon to-day, in order to give. the members of tho staffs plenty of time to get luncheqn and then witness the arrival •of 11.M.5. New Zealand. Quite a number of peoplo liavo decided ki proceed out to the Heads (bayoiul Seatoun) to witness tho big cruiser entering port.
