POLICE CASIES.

Glyn Ivor Hazel wast charged with breaking into tho counting house of the Westpurt Coal Company and stealing a pocket-book and silk handkerchief, valued at -lis., the property of "Win. 'I'ebbs. Defendant was further charged with breaking into tho shop of Charles Geo. Sherwood and stealing jewellery valued at JilU 16*. On the application ol' the police the defendant was remanded until April IG. John C:lssorley was charged that at Wellington lie did assault one Waller Proudfoot. Tho'defendant was fined 40s. ill default seven (lays' imprisonment. Ho was further charged with, having damaged /a fortune-telling machine. He was convicted and ordered to pay £o, the rnlue of the machine, in default 11 days' imprisonment. . Frederick Williams wf.s fined X' 3 in default 14 days' imprisonment for committing a certain act. * Carl I'. Johnson was charged with playing "two-up." He was remanded until April 18. Charles Barham, charged with insobriety, was fined 205., in default seven days' imprisonment and was made the subject of a prohibition order.
