It has just transpired that, when the 1 Inspector-General of Iluspitals (Dr. Valiutine) paid a visit of inspection to tho \Vu- ■ nganiti Hospital twelve months ago, he i rnado a report which cast reflection upon j the honorary medical stuff and the then . medical superintendent. ' Briefly put, tho Inspector-General comi plained that thora.was delay in perform- • ing an operation, particularising a case ot 1 peritonitis, in which the operation was 1 still unperformed after the patient bad . been a couple of days in the institution. ) As a result of inquiries made it appears i that the -Inspector-General's report was s based on one brief visit paid on April 9, t 1912, before the present medical superinI tondent took office. In tho huriy of lus inspection the Inspector-General appears t to nave been misinformed ns to his facts, 1 as according to hospital record!!. thoro > was no case of peritonitis in the nistitu--1 tion at that date. The case, which he vcr (erred to was evidently one ol bone ilis- , ease which was not considered urgent by i the doctor who sent the patient tn the , hospital, and as a matter of fact, did not t require an operation.
