The. examination of Senor Arana, of the Peruvian Amazon Company, who is alleged to have been responsible for the Putumayo rubber atrocities, was continued tor day by. the Parliamentary Committee of Inquiry. ■■■'•' 1 Tho chairman of the committee remarked that Senor Arana's allegation that the statements made by Sir Eoger Casement, British Consul, were inaccurate and had broken down. . Senor Arana said that Sir .Eoger Casement had relied on statements made l>y Barbadians, who would lend themlelves to any sort of story. The committee was obviously dissatisfied with Senor Arana's evasive replies,' and his- profession of ignorance regarding details of cases mentioned. . (Ecc. April 10, 11.10 p.m.) London, April 10. Senor. Arann, in his evidence, described llr. Hardenburg, whoso reports , of tho rubber atrocities uppeared in "Truth," as an adventurer, and. also accused him of blackmail.
