Scene—A hayloft. Three of a country firo brigade just arrived in answer to an alarm. of fire. First Fireman (in loft, searching for the fire) —"I can't,seo anything of it, Bill." Captain (standing on the ladder, fairly boiling over with imiwrtance)—"What does he say, Bill?" Bill—"That ho can't see anything of the fire, captain." Captain—"Well, why tho dickens doesn't ho strike a light'and lor it, instead of poking about in the dark!
