NON-COMMISSIONED 'OFFICERS CLUB

ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the ■ Wellington Garrison Non-Commissioned Officers' Club was licld in tlio Garrison Hall last evening- Ihe fifth annual report highly congratulates members on the financial position of the club. It proceeds:—The club was formed on Juno 20, 1908, and in order to comfortably equip tho rooms la- debentures .at £ 1 each wero issued, and since then the club has been in possession of well-equipped club rooms, including a billiard table, which lias been an immense source of attraction, a piano, and a library. This may be taken as very satisfactory, and as a glancc at tho balance-sheet will show that a number of the debentures, were not i'ully paid up, the club has been instrumental in obtaining sufficient moneys to meet all expenditure, and still shows a very good credit balance, but as stated in the last annual report, the club is not yet in a position, as can be fully recognised, to repay any of the debentures. ; The membership of tho club cannot bo put down as satisfactory, now standing as 89, as against CO last year, which shows a gain of only 2!) members during the season, and only points to tho fact that every endeavour must be made during the coming season to encourage all young N.C.O.'s, tho majority of whom liavo only been created during the past few months, nncl this committee would urge the incoming committee lo put forth their best efforts iu this direction. The following officers were clccted:— Patron, Colonel Chaytor (Officer Commanding District); president, QuUrter-Master-Sergeant Gibson (D Battery); vicepresident, Sergeant-Major Dement (A Squadron), Colour-Sergeant Bould (B Co., sth Regiment); lion, secretary, SergeantMajor Jessen (D Battery); lion, treasurer, Sergeant Gauntlett (D/Battery); committee, Quarter-Master Sergeant Sharp, N.Z.S.C.
