CANADIAN NAVAL POLICY.
DEBATE STILL CONTINUING. By Telegraph—Presß Association—Copyright (Rec. April 9, 9.35 p.m.) Ottawa, April 9. Mr. White, Minister for Finance, in continuing the debate on the Navy Bill in the Houso of Commons, declared that tho Cabinet was as strongly opposed to a periodic contribution to tlio Imperial Navy as wero tho Liberals. Amid all tho talk of autonomy in Canada during 1009, New Zealand gave a Dreadnought to the Nayy, and this action was approved throughout tho world as one of the golden deeds of tho Empire's history. Sir Wilfrid Lauriea-'s policy was merely ono of political expediency, and was never intended to fructify. 'If Canada decided in favour of a local, navy as a permanent policy, then the Conservatives would ag;ree, but the first gift of three Dreadnoughts must bo made to tho Motherland. Tho Prime Minister, Mr. Borden, is preparing to introduco a Closure Bill.
