Tho iriciue.st concerning the death or Alexander Stitt, a Wcstport hotelkeeper, . who met with, a tram accident in Wellington on April 2; and died in tlie public hospital on Saturday last, was concluded by Dr. M'Arthur, S.M., yesterday morning. ' The verdict • was that death had been caused by heart failure, accelerated by the accident. The coroner said that blame was not attachable to the motorman or tho conductor. THROWN PROM MILK CART. . FOUND DEAD., Dune'din, April 8. James Gregg, aged 71, was found dead in 'bed at St.Kilda. ... FATAL JUMP FROM TRAM. Christchurch, April 7. Miss Evelyn Edith Coombes, aged 28, residing in Papanui, Was killed by a fall from a tram last night. When approaching Sawyers' Anns Road stop sho evidently thought the 'car had stopped) and jumped off, and fell on her head. An inquest' was held this afternoon. Tho evidence showed that deceased jumped oif some'distance before the stopping place was reached. A verdict of accidental death was 'returned. MEDICAL CERTIFICATE REFUSED. Reeflon, April 7. T, Sturt, a local painter, an old resident of Reefton, died in the Hospital yesterday. Owing to certain, bruises, a medical certificate was refused. Sturt 'fell down in a fit at the hotel where he was staying. A post-mortcin examina-. t'ion is to bo made. . MINER AND EARTH-FALL. , Whangarei, April 7. A miner named Jenkins was killed by a fall of earth in the Northern Company's mine at Hikuraugi. Tho miners stopped work to-day 'in respect to his memory.
