We arc requested to call the attention of our readers to the unauthorised use of Professor Motchnikoff's name in connection with tlio therapeutical use of lacticacid ferments, and the preparation of soured milk. The popularity of the lactic-acid (rc-alinont is mainly due to the painstaking 'researches of Professor Jlctclinikoff, who placed it on a sound scientific basis, and its value, now generally recognised, to his careful selection of strains of bacilli found by him to yield Ihe ma't satisfactory resulls. Attempts are being made by the specious use of tiis name to foist oil the public a veritable OLT-A PODRIUA of products—tablets, powders, cultures, chocolates, and what-not, which- have nothing in common with the carefully-selected strains issued under ProfessAr JlefcliiiikolV's scientific supervision, and he wishes il: to bo generally known that lie resents his name being made use of in connection with products which do not ofl'er any scientific assurance of genuineness and therapeutical activity. The Socioto le Ferment of Paris prepare tlio Laetobtieilline Ferments ill Talilet and Powder Form, under the anthoritv and scientific control of Professor Jletehnikolf, and no other preparations havo his recognition. ' 'J'o verify tlio genuineness of these products, note that the words "Luctobaccillinc" anil "Seul fournisseur du Professor JletclinikotT" appears 011 each cylinder. "Ijactobacillino" is sold in glass cylinders, the correct prices for which nre:— Powder, 10s. per box of 10 cylinders, or Is. for sample cylinder; Tabids, ss. (id. per box of eight cylinders, or bd. for sample cylinder. . .
