£210 WORTH STOLEN. DETECTIVES AND A SUSPECT Between March 22 and 21 the shop of .Frederick Joseph Blackin, jeweller, at Levin, was broken into and jewellery, consisting of watches, lings, sleeve-links, brooches bracelets. bungles, sover-eign-cases, etc., of a total value of a boat XKIO, was stolen. Entrance lo the place was effected through climbing on to a lean-10, getting through a back window leading into the upper portion of the building, removing a pane of glass from a sky-light, placing a scantling across tho opening, from which scantling it was easy for the intruder to-lower himself to the floor. Between March 29 and .'II the jeweller's shop of Alexander Henderson!' at Masterton, was entered. Gold pencils, watches, bangles, medals, rings, necklets, ear-rings, aiberts, etc., of a total value of ,178, wero stolen. In this latter case the thief entered by way of a sky-liglit to the workroom, and from there to the shop through a window, the protecting bars of which lie forced aside. Detective Lewis, of Wellington, was sent to investigate the Levin robbery, and Detectivo Andrews; also of Wellington, was dispatched to Mastcrton. As a result of their investigations the detectives concluded that the one person had committed both burglaries, and that, that nerson had .started out from Wellington. That, at least, was their theory. They returned to Wellington and yesterday they arrested on suspicion a young mau named Glyn Ivor llazell. The police state that on searching Ilazcll's possessions most, of the property missing from Mr. Henderson's shop (Mastcrton) was discovered. Hazell has already been charged with the offences described above. This morning he will be brought before (lie Magistrate's Court aud the police will ask for a remand on the ground that certain other matters require investigation.
