A. good deal of resentment exists in tilt minds of some Olago merchants in regard to the fact that Wellington firms-are supplying alt groceries for the commissariat at' the Olago Central camp, and Duucdiil merchants were not given an opportunity of tendering.' It is true that local firma have a contract for tho supply of fresh meat, mill;, bread, and other perishable goods (which could not bo brought from any distance), but the groceries are being forwarded by a well-known Wellington firm. Some idea of the extent of the .contract, mav be obtained from the following statement:—Some 2800 men will bo in camp, ami the quantities stocked for their consumption arc: 115001b. butter, 88011). tea, 509(111). sugar. 11701b. salt, 51101b. pepper, 252tlib. jam, 39211), eolfee, 31501b. candles, 7111b. rice, 14001b. Hour. 7001b. oatmeal, 291 sacks potatoes, and 7001b, of onions. The contract for jam has gone to a Nelson company.
