Healing and Co.'s cycle business, died at an early hour yesterday morning, _ after an illness lasting since tho beginning of tho year. The deceased, who was tho secretary of the Wadestown. Municipal Electors' Association, leaves a widow and a young family. Mr. Patrick Dwyer, an of St. Patrick's College, died yesterday morning at tho early age of 27 years. Tho Anglican Bishop of Calcutta and Metropolitan of India lias written to tho Bishop of Auckland (Dr. Orossley) expressing great interest in tho Marsden Centenary, and hoping that ono of the Bishops of India would be able to como to New Zealand and take part in it. • There was a splendid attendance in the Auckland Town Hall last Saturday evening, when Mr. Mnughaii Barnett, tho recently-appointed organist for Auckland city, gave his initial recital sinco his acceptance of the position. Mr. Barnett was most cordially welcomed .(says tho "Star"), and after each item .received Irearty applause, and' in oua instance an enthusiastic encore. The audience listened to the performance in a way that evidenced their enjoyment of it. Good judgment was displayed in the selection of the pieces. The programme was a representative one of organ, works, English, German, and l'Veilch schools being included, while the transcriptions were eminently suited to the instrument, and served, admirably to please all tastes.
