LONDON MONEY MARKE'I'. The Union of South Africa, lias not done any better with its flotation than, either . Now Soutli. Wales or Now Zealand. Tho South African loan was for £4,000,000 at. 1 per cent., and was offered to tho public at par, and the public subscribed for only 6 per cent, of t.lio issue, tho underwriter's having- to provide for the balance. The City of Ifobart is now, on the market for £250,000. at 41 per cent., and the stock is being issued at 1005. that, is at 10a. premium.- It will he interesting to sec tho result of this flotation as it fa the. first corporation loan from tho Antipodies to bo issued at a premium. Tho amount required is small, and tho issuing bank will probably be ablo to secure-the amount from its customers. ' Tho London money market is certainly a little easier than it was a week or a fortnight ago, but the ratcs.fl.ro high 'as compared with a year ago, and thero is very little prospect of any ease. Loans are being forced on the market just now because of tho prbspcut of dearer money when ' t.lio war in tho Balkans ceases. The.ro will then be a wild rush to float loans, and it is expected that l'avis as well as London will be stormed by eager borrowers. COSTOMS REVENUE.
