EASTER CARNIVAL.

MOTOR CYCLE GALA. A meeting of the committee which has the arrangements in liatjd with respect to the motor-cycle carnival to be held at Trentham on April 19, in' connection with the Citizens' Easter Carnival, was held in the Town Hall last evening. Councillor R. Fletcher presided,' and Councillor W. H. P. Barber was also present. The chairman stated that he had interviewed Mr. Harcourt regarding the use of Trentham racecourse for the purpose of conducting tho carnival. Mr. Harcourt had intimated that everything that the committee required in . connection with the carnival would be at their disposal, including the use of the grandstand, and all conveniences. It was decided to forward a letter ofthanks to Sir. Harcourt and tho stewards of the Wellington Racing Club. Mr. Daniels stated that ho had interviewed the Chief Clerk of the Traffic Department of the Railways, who had said that a special train could be arranged to leave iaambton Station at 11 a.m. or 11.15 a.ni., and also provision could be, made if necessary for a special train to follow the usual 12.15 p.m. train. He, also added; that arrangements had boon made to convey the. men from H.MISi N'ow Zealand to the carnival free of cost by special train. It was decided to ask the Railway Department 'to print tickets for- the train, including , admission to tho grounds, the, prices being* First class, 3s. Gd. return; second class* 2s. (id. It was anticipated that there would bo about 1000 to 5000 people at the carnival, providing that the weather is line. Already about eighty entries for, all events have been received, including entries from Hastings, Palmerston North, Ashhurst, Masterton, Wellington, and as far south, as Dunedin. A number Of. the fastest riders in Christchurch have also signiiied their intention 6f competing. A' special invitation, scratch interisland race will be a feature of the carnival iu which a number of the fastest riders ill the Dominion will.compete'. It was resolved to have" special tickets printed for admission to the ground only. Tho price of admission to the ground was hxcil at Is. • « • " The catering is to be carried out by Mr. Shout, of Trentham, who is to make arrangements for the provision of cold luncheon and afternoon tea. The Vacuum Oil, Company and Mr. G. Xash, of Wadestown, wero thanked for donations. * - A committee, comprising Messrs. Plimmer, Hume, and Turner, was appointed, with a view, to interviewing various' business people respecting donations. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded to the chairman and the sub-committee for work done in connection with the. or- 1 ganisalion of the carnival.
