A SHEARERS' GRIEVANCE.
(To the Editor:), Sir,—'Will'-.yon please allow mo space in your columns to correct a statement made by Mr. It. M'Uac, one of the shearers' delegates who waited upon the Prime Minister (Mr. W. P. " Masscy) in connection with alleged shearers' grievances. Your report stated that M'Raa advised the Prime Minister that. I had told him (M'Bae) that I knew of. shearers otl\er than himself who could not get shearing in this district because employees would not pegage them, thereby proving that. 1,. had a "Black- List." The statement miirte by this delegate is absolutely unfounded, and I give it an cmpliahc deninl. The assertion was evidently made with a view to endeavouring to damage the status of registry offices, whicli lie asserted, were being made use of as a means of victimisation by employers. I challengo this delegate to prove, this assertion, and if ho can do, so I will make a present of'.£2o to the local 'hospital. If bo fails to. do so he to make a forfeit of ' a Hko amount to the same institution. My. books can be inspected by the ,local Inspector of Factories 1 for proof of any "Black List." Mr. M'liae advised mo s<Jme short time back that lie was going to post nie from one end of New Zealand to the other as a means of victimisation by tho employers of this district. Probably lip did not get much' shearing last season,, and may be smarting under a sense of iujuslice— I am, etc., 1\ P. WELCH, Labour Agent, Masterton.
