9 OTAKI. A young man under the influence of drink entered a house here on Saturday night, and threatened the inmates. Ho was eventually overpowered and fallen to tho lock-up. Cochran and Lnnn. who have been to Sydney in connection with the sale of Mr. Lan Duncan's liorses, are expected homo on Wednesday. Mr. L. H. County Council, praying for further formation in connection with tlio Beach Road, which, especially in summer, is a very, popular route' to the seaside. The Miranui mill—seven strippers—has closed down for three weeks, so that tho machinery inay bo overhauled anil necessary "repairs and • improvements made. The Weka mill—two strippers—is also closing down. FEILDING. The following is tho eighth annual report of the Feilding Golf Club:—"Owing to a great nunlber of members having Jeft ithe district', and, partly, no doubt, to the exceptionally wet season last year, our membership has, fallen considerably. At the beginning of the year wo had a membership of thirty-two ladies and fiftyfour men. At present we have twentyfour ladies and thirty-three men. The finances of the club are in a very , satisfactory condition, tho credit balance at the bank being .£G3 2s. 8(1. Only two inter-club matches were nlayed, these being against the Maroro and .Wanganui Clubs-. Both of these matches were lost by us. A championship competition was included in the list of local competitions last season, and was won by Mr. D. Pryde. Tho opening logy competition was won by 'Mr. .Logic and Miss Bruce, and 'the closing bogy .competition by Mr. G-oodbe-liere and Miss Daniel."
