SUMMARY AND FORECAST. Present indications aTe for high south- . easterly -winds, changing to easterly, northward of Farewell' Spit and Kai- ' koura, and moderato to strong easterlies elsewhere. Cold, unsettled, and showery weather probable generally, but especially on tho East Coast of tho North Island. Conditions aro likely to change shortly with a falling barometer, which may be expected everywhere in from 24 to Jd jiours. Southerly winds strong to gale havo prevailed, with cold and showery weather. Heavy seas have been experienced in Cook Strait and on tho Eastern Cooetg. (From Our Special Correspondents.) ."Wanganui, April 7.—Fine overhead; southerly gale and bitterly cold. • FeUding, April 7—Wild, cold day, and showery. Snow fell on the high lands in the back country. Very cold, dubious night. Shannon, April 7.—Heavy rain on Sunday night. Wet - and cold to-day. Otalti, April 7.—Wintry; snow on hills. Featherston, .April 7.-Showery, with cold southerly wind. Greytown, April 7,-Hailing and raining and very cold.. Tho mountains aro covered with snow, ' Hastings, April ' 7.—A sharp change in tho weather took placo on Saturday night when a bleak southerly, with heavy showers, came along. To-day has been exceedingly wintry.
