Each of seventeen stationary empty carriages at Stockport was found to contain an explosive gas cylinder. Ono carriage that had been saturated with, paraffin was wrecked. Isabol Irving, a suffragette, was sentenced to six months' imprisonment with' hard labour for window-smashing at Holborn. SUFFRAGE BILLS. STATEMENT BY THE SOLICITORGENERAL. London, April 4. Sir ■ John Simon (Solicitor-General) stated in tho House of Commons that a Liberal Committee had prepared a Bill enfranchising six million women, and entitling all over twenty-five years of age to bo registered if they possessed a household qualification similar to men. The Bill also proposes to givo a voto to tho wifa of every man who has a housoholder s qualification. Mr. Dickinson (Liberal) introduced a Bill yesterday.
