The Marquis of Crowe (Lord Privy Seal), speaking at the Eighty Club banquet, said tho Government intended to introduce joint action among tho existing authorities, in order to form a Co ordinatcd educational system. Tho age for leaving school should bo at least fourteen. The continuance of the halftime system l was undesirable though necessary for some industries. It was proposed to register all secondary schools, and introduce public inspection and a standard, of efficiency. English education required something in the naturo of a Food and Drugs Bill, in order to prevent the Echools from providing unwholesome mental nutriment. The new system would inoreaso tho cost greatly, and as it was impossible to get more money from the rates it must bo borno by the taxpayers.
