POULTRY NOTES.

(By Chantecler.) TERMINATION OF COMPETITIONS. The New Zealand Utility Poultry Club's Eighth Egg-laying Competition for fowls, and Third Duck Test terminated on Monday at Papamii. The tests have been most successful. For tho 51 weeks the 300 fowls, recorded 72,322 eggs, and the sixty ducks yielded 12,057 eggs, an average of over 200 eggs per bird, an achievement that lias never been recorded in any competition with such a large flock of birds. The honours wt-nt to Mr. W. A. Nixon's White Leghorns in the fowl test, and to Mr. T. R. Hall's Indian''Runners' in ducks. In laying IGI4 eggs in 51 weeks, Mr. Nixon's birds have ■ established a world's -record, and tho team passed through: the test without a death, as also did Mr. Hall's ducks. The feeding was very much tho same as in the previous tests. There was not a single death in the whole of the competing ducks, and only about 5 per cent, in tho fowls.
