LEAGUE'S ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Wellington Eugby League was. litld in the Trades Hall last evening* Mr. M. J. Eeardon pre; siding. Mr. Keiirdon said that the finances were in a very .satisfactory condition. The League hoped to get' two grounds from tlio City Council this year, aiid also hoped to get the use of the 'Basin Reserve for a representative match with the right .to charge for admission. The election. of officers for the ensuing season resulted as; follows President, Mr. M. J. Eeardon; vice-presidents, Drs. Clay, and Kemp,-and Messrs. A. Linley, E. Dwyer, M. J ■ Hodgin-s, and B. C. Warnes; treasurer,' Mr. M., J. Eeardon (re-elected); secretary, Mr. S. Brice; selection, committee, Messrs. G. , Blatherwick, H. Brown, and S. Brice;'management committee, Messrs. WTay, Kerr, Eeardon, Saunders, Brice, Wright, Webb,and Brown. ■ N The secretary was instructed to write to the City Council Eeserves Committee, with'respect to grounds for the League.. It was also decided to ask for the usb, of a ground on Newtown Park for practical use for Salturday next. . . j It was decided to' make inquiries to see' whether there wero any Northern Union jilttyers aboard 'H.M.S, New Zealand, and Uf so arrangements ;will be": made with re--;«pect to holding 'ri match between the and a Wellington representative 'team. ■■■ < \ B( 'Ho League's first,'annual Report stated: "The game was not started until, late in the season, and difficulty was experienced . ' ;iri: Securing grounds. The. League,, however, were fortunate .enough to secure two' 'big grounds, one', at Duppa Street and . ono at Petone. These two gronnds were enough to accommodate th'e four teams playing. A competition was held for a cup donated by. Messrs. Gilmer, ami M'Guire, and after some exciting games the Newtown 1 Club was declared the winners; Mr. • Seigal also ■ donated a shield lor. competition, and a challenge round was played 'after the cup competition. Hepresentative ' matches ' were played against; Auckland, Canterbury, Hawke's Bay,.
