MASTERTON NOTES.
(By Telegraph.—Special Correspondent-.) Mastcrton, April 2. At a meeting of tlio Wairarapfi Hospital and' Charitable Aid Board to-day, a deputation attended from Eketahuna and asked that the question of the ment of the cottage hospital in that township bo reconsidered. After hearing Pr. Valintine on the subject the. board decided to provide a cottage at Eketahuna for a district nurse with an emergency ward attached,, on tho condition that tho Eketahuna committee found the money necessary to erect the building. Tho board also dccidcd to set up a ccntral 'committee'of seven members to control tho three hospitals in the district, in place of the present sub-committees, and to placo. tlio matron of tlio Idnsterton Hospital in charge of the whole of the nursing staff of tho district. A man named James Courtney was arrested by Detective Andrews to-day on a warrant charging 'him with tho theft of goods from one Wellington resident to the value of .fti 155., and from another resident to the value of A'G 13s. He will bo brought before the Justices to-morrow and remanded to Wellington.
