Three cases against Territorials for alleged, default in drills were laid before the Court tin's morning. Two of the cases were dismissed, and G. W. I'raser was convicted and discharged. The two joint secretaries of the Beautiiying Society's recent garden feto were brought before the magistrate, Mr. Poynton, this morning, and charged with instituting a lotte::y ill the shape of a free V'P t° Itotcrua, to be disposed of by drawing 111 connection with the fete. Mr. Haggitt, who appeared for the defendants, plead.id guilty. Sergeant Bowden said there was no cose of personal gain with the defendants. The fete was in aid ot the town, but a brcacli of the Gaming- Act had taken place, and the prosecution fol.owed.
