CONSTIPATION AND APPENDICITIS.
Tho latter is usually caused by the former, which, in turn, lias its origin in intestinal indigestion. t Chronic constipation is a disease which is about as prevalent as dyspepsia and indigestiun. riearly everyone suffers from it occasionally, but there are millions of people who endure it habitually, and who are accustomed to resort to the uso of laxatives and cathartics daily. Many peoplo seemed to have developed a • perfect mania for taking pills, and instead of trying to ascertain the latent cause of the. disease, and removing it by appropriate treatment, they aro content to continue tho reckless use of laxatives, aperients, drastic cathartics, and violent purgatives, uiitil finally inflammation of the bowels occurs, which readies, the appendix, and the result is appendicitis. ' • - i In. investigating and tracing the causative factors ol' constipation and its frequent sequel, appendicitis, it lias been noted by physicians that the majority of cases were prececded and accompanied by a. long-standing gastro-intestinal indigestion. The idea that appendicitis is brought on by foreign bodies such as seeds, 'etc., becoming lodged in the appendix, is an exploded theory. It is ■ now definitely 1 known that constipation is the most prolific causo of the dread disease, while tho constipation itself is previously induced by intestinal indigestion or amylaceous dyspepsia—the inability (o digest starches—so tho relation between causo and effect is readily seen and appreciated. . The absurdity of attempting to cure constipation by tho uso of physic should' be apparent to everyone. Laxative drugsi and powerful purgatives will never cure a disease of this sort, and those who make .frequent or regular uso of them will, sooner or later, set up an inflammatory condition of tho intestinal system. A person with first-class digestion will never bo annoyed with chronic constipation, and when this trouble does exist, instead of slugging tho system with pills, liquid laxatives, cathartics, etc., uso a remedy which will cure the gastro-intes-tinal indigestion, and you will find that the constipation no longer bothers you, and with its.-removal, the risk of developing appendicitis will be reduccd to Iho minimum. Dr. Sheldon's Digcstivo Tabules have been, tho means of curing numerous cases of constipation by first curing the intestinal indigestion'. They digest every kind of food, a single grain being capable of digesting 3000 grains of food, and (hey also contain digestives which convert starch into sugar and readily cure amylaceous dyspepsia aii'd intestinal indigestion. If you are suffering from dyspepsia, constipation, and, in tact, indidesliou of any kind, don't run the risk of getting appendicitis, but strife* at the root of (he trouble—the original cause—by using Dr. Sheldon's Digestive Tabule*. which will quickly rid you of all functional disorderc of the nlimonUiry tract.
