4 ' . PROMISES TO LOCAL BODIES. (By Mesrapb.—Press 'Auckland, April 1. During the course of an interview on, Saturday on tlio subject of tiro Domin-' •'oil's finances, tlio Hon. W. Eraser referred to the fact that when tho present Government took office promises, involving .£'075,000 for various works had been made to local bodies, and that there was only ,£17,000 in the Treasury wherewith to provide for the payment of the money promised. Mr. Fraser pointed out that tho .£075,000 was loau money promised ta ■local bodies. •
