Mr. Lysnar said Sir Joseph very evidently did not understand the position at nil. There was no question of dictating by New Zealand producers. All they wanted was to bo placed on an equality with exporters of meat from .other countries, who, under existing conditions, worn able to get nearly twico as much for their mutton as New Zealand producers, though it was admitted -New Zealand mutton was equal to the test Welsh. Mr. Lysnar quoted figures for 1911 (the latest ho had) to show that tho difference between wholosale prices paid for English and Scotch, as compared witlii New Zealand mutton, meant a. loss of Ji1")7,189 to New Zealand farmers.
