PRESENTATION TO REV. F.T. AND MRS. JONES.

A very enjoyable social was given in honour of Mr. and Mrs. Jones by the residents of Arapaepae Road, Levin, on Thursday, when despite tho inclement weather, the hall was well filled. Tho proceedings opened with tho quarterly examination by Mr. Jones of the members of the Bible Class,'tile prizes going to Miss Macdonald and Master Ward. These examinations arc made most interesting by a novel missing-word competition, and young and old attend, and study together for tin-m. Mr. .Broadbelt took the choir when the competition ended, and musical and elocutionary items followed. Mr. Broadbelt eulogised the great work done by Mr. and Mrs. Jones, their interest in the children, which promised great results in the fu-, turo, and tho very great sorrow the residents felt that the time had come to soy good-bye. Mr. Alex. Macdonald then rose to make i presentation.. Ho said tho hall stood as a memorial of Mr. Jones's work at Arapaepae. When they got into a rut, Mr. Jones came along, gave tho wheel a push, and the chariot moved along once more. In asking Mr. and Mrs. Jones to accept a small gift (a beautiful hotwater kettle), he said that though it was a trifle, it yet represented a great deal of lovo and esteem. Mr. and Mrs. Jones were greatly beloved, never had he lieard anything said save in praise of them and their good qualities. Mr. Jones suitably responded. He said he felt their kindness very much, and sincerely thanked them. He was very greatly indebted to them for the way they had worked together. His'work at Arapaepae had been a pleasure, never a burden. They had all been most kind to himself "and Mrs. Jones. Refreshments were then handed round, and a most enjoyable evening was brought to a close with three hearty cheers for Mr, and Mrs. Jones.
