BOYS' INSTITUTE.
Since the departure ,of the Ponsonby Boys' Band, the director of the institute lias received, numerous concerning a similar band for the Wellington boys, and from the juvenile petitioners .the query already conies, "What kind of uniform shall we have?" The institute already possesses a drum and a few other things wherewith to make a start, and some thirty hoys ' have b?eu enrolled within the last two days. So far the committee'has not found a iiifm 'tii offer himself as conductor, but it is hoped that a start, will bo made at-an early .date. Arrangements are being pushed forward with a view to installing a complete kincmatograph plant, and as there is likely to be a crowded hall on occasions when a picture entertainment is held, preference will be given to thoso who now attend tho 1 joys' service cn Sunday evening. Mr. Bennett is enrolling new members nearly every night, ond by all appearance,?; the number will b» greater than ever Iwfore. Many are under tho impression that an entrance feo is. necessary for membership, but this is not tho case, and, provided that a bov conforms to the discipline of tho institute, he gets a. very happy time.for nothing. 'At tho Sunday service to-morrow Mr. ,T. G. W. Aitken has promised to be present. The orchestra and the boys' choir will assist as usual, and thus help to provide a profitable wo.y. for any boy to spend his Sunday evening.
