A large gathering took place at tho Mulmnoa East schoolioom, Ohau, on Monday evening, to say . farewell to Sir. and Mrs. J. 11. Taylor, and to present them with a token of respect. I. Rattray, secretary of tho three trottin." clubs in Cliristcliurch, as a mark of the club's appreciation of his services to the sport, flio Hon. C. Louisson, president of tho New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club, who made the presentation, sa'd tliat as most of tliost piesent .were aware, Mr. Rattray had recently taken a trip to America for tho benefit of his health, and they wero glad to seo had returned fully restored to health. It was largely due lo Mr. Rattray's efforts thai tho sport, of trotting had roachcd the high standard it now held, and the clubs felt that: the present was a good opporfunity to show how they valued his work.
