JVaihi, \£l lis. ?d, WAITANGI. The crosscut in the intermediate level of the Wa.itangi mine, Tararu, has been driven to a t-otol distance of 30ft. The manager states thnt the loaders mentioned in last report were driven oil, and a few feet of tho broken down. There are three leaders running almost paraJlel, but converging as the drive advances. They are from lin. to 4in. wide, and looked promising. Each showed dabs of free gold, mixed with telluride, and about 51b. of picked stone wero selected. . NEW SYLVIA. . The drive on the No. 2 level in tho New SyWia mine (Thames) was advanced a further lift, during last week. The manager reports that the reef is 4ft. wide and well mineralised. The rise in the No. 3 level is up 72ft., with 3ft. of quartz showing. Five stopos are going, and arc all producing a fair quantity of ore, in which colours of gold are frequently seen. Two Gtopee are in progress in the intermediate level, with 3ft. of quartz in each. In tho battery level one etope is going on the No. 1 reef, tho quartz, is sft. wide, and heavily mineralised. Good progress is being made in tho low level. A large quantity of water is running out of the face. . OCCIDENTAL. The manager of the Occidental mine (Coromandel) reports that no quartz has been broken in tho stope over the low level during the past week, at* the men were engaged in timbering and stripping the reef. A little quartz was broken whilst stripping the reef in the stopee above the 70ft. level, and a few pounds 'of picked stone was obtained. The reef ha« not altered, and dabs oT gold are showing in places. No work has been done in the Sronth drive. The flinty cm-s----cut ha« been extended 6fl. in a fair elnsk? of I'omilrv, with small quarts stringers running through it.
