EXHIBITIONS & GREAT FESTIVITIES IN HOLLAND.
OPENING OF THE PEACE PALACE. During the summer of this year a series of exhibitions will be held in various parts of. Holland in celebration of the centenary of tho renewed independence of tho Netherlands and the opening of tho I'enco Palace at Tho Hague. With thesa exhibitions many festivities will be connected/ No doubt many tourists from all parts of the world will be attracted, as llollAnd is in many respects a. very interesting coantry. The exhibitions will show- the development of the agriculture, commerce, industry, navigation, arls, ctc., in Holland. Tho programmo includes the following:— Amsterdam.—Tho first Dutch exhibition concerning navigation, which, by its completeness in every detail, will give such au,extensive view of all matters relating to navigation as has not yet teen the case in any other country. The exhibition, "The Woman, 1813-1913,-" will render it possible to get an exact ideo of all that has been wrought by women in that period.' ' Tho Hague—Tho great International Agricultural Exhibition, coupled'with tho celebration of tho 25 years' jubilee of the Netherland Heath Society, vill show tho high degree of perfection attained by agriculture and horticulture in Holland. A sports exhibition will also bo held at The Hague, with n division for aviation. Tilburg", Zwolle, and Sittard will hold extensivo exhibitions of all that concerns the prosperous industries of North Brabant, Oversel, and Limburg.
Leeuwardeu will show Friesian art and industry. Boskoop will, by a large rose show again prove the great skill of the Dutch nurserymen. ' Deventeh and Baarn will also oroganiso flower exhibitions. 1 Middelburg, Boek, in AVaterland, and Muiden will hold interesting exhibitions of national dress, furniture, and old customs. ■ Arnhcm will attract tourists by its beautiful surroundings and the work of modern painters. Leiden and Haarlem will have exhibitions'of old Dutch masters. ... • Utrcoht will show a collection of paintings of old Dutch masters, borrowed for .the occasion from 'private .collections, and, therefore :of great interest to lovers of tins art. . ■ Ifertogenbosoli promises old church art. Sneek will show its sailing sport on tho • beautiful Friesian lakes. Rotterdam will interest visitors owing to its '.up-to-date harbour arrangements and means of ' transport. In several towns historical processions, national' feasts, etc., will be arranged at Hoorn. A review of the fishing fleet on the Zuyder Zee will be an attractive and interesting sight. , Excursions will be • arranged to . visit model farms and factories in Groningen, famous' for its agricultural enterprise, etc.
