' , 9 CARTERTON. , At tho next meeting of the Carterton Borough Council a resolution is w bo moved as follows:—"That no more cations for water outside the borough M. granted till the present higli-pressuro system was enlarged/' . _ , I Mr. Hans Beck, a well-known resident of tho Wai'rarapa, died in tho IFasterton. Hospital on Tuesday night. Deceased who was 65 years of age, had resided m tho Te Wharau district for many years, and for some considerable time followed farming pursuits. He suffered from heart disease, which was the ultimate cause ot death. OTAKI. Some enthusiasm marked tho opening of the golf season at Otaki. A number of Wellington, visitors pat* ronised the Manakau tennis courts during the Easter holidays. The courts are improviug. One pleasing feature ot tiw sand courts is that they aro not uear v so tiring to players as the ashjmalt courts. Tho prize-giving ceremony in fcion with the Anglican Sunday School took place this week.
