ST. PAUL'S FOUNDATIONS.
It is not improbable that a special method of dealing with the foundations of St. Paul's Cathedral, London, will bo proposed, before long, says Canon Alexander. A number of careful investigations are now being carried out bv Sir Francis Fox, the consulting engineer, with tlio cathedral architects.
Great expense would bo involved if this work were carried out, added Canon Alexander, but he thought the feeling of the country was so strong on the subject of the safety of the cathedral that any smn that was necessary, would be fortlicoming. The work of cementing the cracks in the upper part of tho cathedral is making good progress. One of the buttresses of "the doine is already finished and work is beginning on some of the others. It is obviously unsafe, said Canon Alexander, to add indefinitely to the weight of an already overweighted srructure 'unless .something is douu to strengthen the foundation*,
