UNIVERSITY PLAYERS. AUCKLAND WINS THE CI.T. Several interesting tennis games were seen on tlio Wellington Cub's courts yesterday, when the finals of (lie University championships were.decided. The weather was excellent, and there was a large attendance both morning and afternoon. Auckland University annexed four of the live events set down and easily won tha Challenge Cup, which hid last year been held by Canterbury College, 'i'his year the only event Canterbury could win was the ladies' doubles. The Victoria College representatives did not succeed in gaining aiiy championship, but reached the filial in four out of five events. - The final of the men's singles provided most interest. Duthie (Auckland) took the first set B—(i, but Cleghorn (Victoria College; raised, high hopes when he Raptured the second set' li—l. The concluding set was two all, but Duthie, by splendid play, won the next four games and tile set and match. There was also some capital tennis in the men's doubles, and anothbr good match was the final of the combined doubles. D. K. Dutliio was the star performer at the meeting, and it Was mainly his splendid all-round play which secured for Auckland tho easy victory of tlio cup contest.

W'th the exception of tho ladies' singles tho Wanganui tennis championships concluded to-day. The number'of entries constituted a record, and the class of play was tho 'highest yet seen in Wanganui, many noted players taking part. The ; men's championslmp singles went to Jennings, who beat Butterworth G—2, 8-10, G—l. Mrs. Whitehead and Mrs. Pearco carried off tho ladies' championship doubles. Dickio and Wallaco defeated Butterworth and Jennings in the final for tho men's championship doubles. Miss Cavo. and Miss Brewster play off in tho final for the ladies' .singles.
