DRAUGHTS CHAMPIONSHIPS.
' (By Teleuraph.—PreEa Asioclatlon.) Gore, March 21. Tho. combined New Zealand and Australian draughty championship tournament, -held Tinder the auspioes of the Goro Draughts Cliib, was opened at 2 o'clock to-day by Mr. G. J. Anderson, M.P. There are sis entries for the championship, these including Hilliker (Dunedin), present cliampion, and ex-champion Jns. Gardiner (Goro), J. A. Lucas (Dunedin) 1 , S. Brodie (Dunedin), Tunnor-up in the last championship, J. C. Cnldcrwood (Wellington), and H. Morris (Waikiwi). The tournament is being; played under the Australian championship tulcs—twolifo knock-out scheme, and openings balloted for. A handicap tournament is also being hold under New Zealand championship rules.
