THE PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION.

NEW REGULATIONS. The Public Service Commissioners, Messrs. I). Robertson, R. Triggs, and A, D. Thomson, will return to Wellington to-morrow morning from Christchurch, They will remain in Wellington, uninterruptedly until tho end of March at least, and probably longer. Pressure of business at headquarters makes it impossible that the Commissioners should make a tour of tlip North Islaud in tho immediolte future similar to that wliich they have just com. pleted in tho South Island. Heads of Departments in the Civil Scrvice met again yesterday to consider tho 'regulations recently issued to them, under seal o£ confidence, by the Public Service Commissioners. Tho regulations, with various amendments suggested by the heads of Departments', will bo 'returned to the Commissioners to-day, in order tiiat they may consider tho suggested amendments during itlie Easter holidays. It is understood that tile .regulations* in their general trend were approved by most of tho Departmental heads, and ithat tho amendments suggested, though numerous, jvero mainly intended to inako the regulations mora workable, and, therefore, likely to be accepted by the Commission, ers and incorporated in. the regulations before they aro issued publicly.
