Tainui, R.M.8., of the Shaw-Savill fleet, arrived at Wellington from London, Ma way ports, at 7.30 a.m. yesterday—one da> 'ahead of schedule date. Subsequently the liner berthed at tho Kings Wharf to land passengers and discharge cargo. Sir. L. J. Wahlers, purser, supplied tho following teport:—The Tainui left Mriava on January 30, and Plymouth on February 1, with ten first-, 50 second, and 490 third-class passengers. Tencriffe was reached on. the morning of February 6, and Capo Town on February 20, where the vessel took some 1500 tons of coal, and left for Hobart at 7 a.m. the following day. Hobart was reached on March 11, whore 950' tons of general cargo was landed, and 15,000 cases of apples loaded for Monte Video and Bio. Theeo will ho sent forward by the Arawx, which leases Wellington on March 20. Exceptionally fine weather was experienced all the way. Captain T. MATJNGANUI FROM SYDNEY. This week's direct boat from Sydney to Wellington—the Maungranui—left the New South Wales port at 1 p.m. on Baturaa-y. She has 143 ealoon and 129 steerage passengers on board for all parts. # A wireless message has ' been received from the Maunganui stating that she was expoctcd to arrive at Wellington at 6 a.m. to-morrow. * MONOWAI AS TROOP SHIP. It is announced that the TJndon Company's Honowa-i will leave Dunedin on Thursday, March 27, for Auckland* via wdy ports, Instead of on Friday. March 28, as usual. She will leave Lyttelton on Friday, March 28, with territorials for Pieton and Nelson, whence she will proceed to Wellington, leaving her© for northern ports on Monday, March 31. NEW S.S. HAWKE'B BAY. Messrs. Bannatyne and Co. have been* advised that the new Tysor liner Hawke's Bay will not arrive at Wellington from London, via way ports, -until Good Friday. The coastal steamer Rakiura is due in port on March 20 to load for Picton, Greymouth, and Hokitika. On account of the Easter holidays, the Anchor Line's steamer Nikau will not visit Wellington on March 23. . Messrs. Dalgety and Co., local agents, advise that tho steamer Mangapapa is expccted from Westport and Karamca on Marcli 20. She leaves on the return trip on the same day. It is expected that the U.S. and A. Line's chartered steamer. Barenfels will leave Sydney for Auckland on March 20. The vessel, which is en route from Now York, is due at Wellington about April 10. Mr. G. B. When She has finished cooling H.M.S. New Zealand at Melbourne next month the Union collier Katoll will proceed to Newoastlo to load for New Zealand. Kauri, s.s., loads at Newcastle this week for Duncdin and Oamaru. The collier Kurow is en route from Newcastle to I/yttelton, and the Eakanoa is en route from Newcastle to Auckland. Tho Waihora comes down to this coast, via Singapore and Samarang. Tho Union collier Wairuna is expected to get away from Wellington this week to load at Nfcwcastle again for this port. The F. and S.
