PROPOSED SPECIAL LOAN OF .£IB,OOO. fTIHE Council of the' Borough of Onslow -*• hereby give public notice that such Council proposes to borrow by way of Special Loan within the meaning of "The Wal Bodies' Loans Act, 1008," the sum of -£18,000 for the following purposes, all being in and for the benefit of the defined part of the Borough of Onslow.hereinafter mentioned. £ e. d. The construction of waterworks within the mean- , ing of the Municipal Corporation Act, 1908 (including reticulation pipes), and engineering and contingencies in connection with such works (including compensation, if any, for land injuriously affected) 15,520 0 0 Purchase of meters for measuring quantity of .water supplied from such waterworks 030 0 0 Balance compensation for land already taken for waterworks purposes as aforesaid and expenses in connection therewith .' 1,200 0 0 Fencing land so taken 350 0 0 .£IB,OOO 0 O" In the alternative and if the consent of the ratepayers is not obtained to the above proposal, the Council proposes to borrow by way ot special loan as abovementioned, the sum of .£1(500 for the purposes of paying: balance compensation for land taken and expenses as above-mention-ed, and fencing land so taken as abovementioned, which purposes are in and for the benefit of the said defined part of the Borough. The defined part of the Borough abovementioned consists of the whole of tho Ngaio Ward, of the whole of the Khandallah Ward of the Borough excepting the parts of Sections 93, 94, 127, and 128 Ohariu District contained in the said Ward and that portion of the Kaiwarra Ward of the Borough comprising roughly the North-Western half of that parr, and which defined part is the same part as is referred to in notice dated the 24th day of February, 1908," published in the Government Gazette of 29th February, 1908, as to the carrying of a proposal for a Special Loan of JCISOO for the purpose of payment of compensation' for lands taken for waterworks in the Borough. ( II: is proposed in tho case of either loan to provide an annual sum equal to one per centum of the amount borrowed as a sinking fund for the repayment of tho loan, and that tho whole of the loan will be repayable at the expiration of 41 years from tlie Ist day of April, 1013, or at an earlier date. The Council proposes to pledge as security for the said loan of .£IB,OOO, and tho interest thereon and the sinking fund, a special rate in accordance with tho above Statute, estimated at 1 5-32 d. in tno pound on the rateable value (on the basis of the unimproved value) of all rateable property within the said defined part oi the BoroUgh of Onslow. If the' proposal for a loan of .£IB,OOO V not carried, and the ..pronosal. fop. loan of i£lGoo is carried, the' Couiicil' proposes to pledge as the latter loan and the interest thereon and sinking fund, a special rate as above estimated . nt 7-Gld. in the pound on the said rateable value.
