The deceassd wfis'.then driving.: atVan ordinary .trotting pace, but.in turning the corner out of. The Terrace into Dixon Street" his near wheel struck the Jcerbing.' The'cart. . .capsized, deceased,was thrown ojut, and the cart then rolled oyer and pinned liiin ■ underneath. Witness ; went to Calcinai's ..assistance with, others ;and lifted, the cart ; off him. The. doctor was sent for at once. The. corner was.. a very bad one for turning. . _
Dr. Gilmer gave evidence a? to the_ injuries sustained by. tho dec3a«;d.; Calcinai wa - unconscious ,\vhen *he : . arrived, having Buffered a compound fracture of tho skull. Wil'iies-i rendered 'first; aid and sent him off at once to tho hospital. Thomas Campbell Fras'er, Jseitior houso physician at,the hospital;, said that the deceased was-admit'tcd, 16. the institution with a compound fracture of the skull, exposing the. brain, which was lacerated. He tacamo'gradually weaker, and he died ,on March 18.; . The. cause. pf-..death was 'fracture of tho skull atid laceration of the brain. . " ' 'VEdith L. Weston also ' described--tlio accident. In the last nine monthssho.Jiad seen three carts get upset on to the footpath at the corner. They did not strike the kerbin.v'.h'jl'Mid.: the. :dees.ased's They all fire-plug,* which" was'j higher, than the road level, and there was i also an <!leetric .light pole, and. a grating f»v surfaoe water which came in tho way of traffic! 'It'wa., a' badly-Constructed" corner. After the accident she rang, up •Messrs'. Wardcll's- office."'" The Coroner found that:death was due to fracture of tho skull and laceration of the brain, sustained by'fclio deceased's' cart being overturned ht the corner of Dixon . Street and Wellin'gto'n'Terrace.' "I should ' like to add," .lie said,, "that I will make it my duty to get' into communication with the city engineer, as to the condition .if this comer, seeing that evidence has been given that no fewer than three acci-. tlents have taken place therein a'short 'iine." •,
