LOCAL MAKICET GLUTTED. Tlie local markets have been literally ' inundated this week with supplies ot j Lower Hutt tomatoes, which "have been i coming in daily in enormous quantities. : One of tlie local agents handled as many 1 as 1300 cases 011 one day, and a thousand cases a day was not uncommon. At yesterday morning's auction, prices weakened and for tho choicest lines only Is. to Is. ' Gd v per half-ease of 2-llb. was offered. Inquiries -have been made from the local markets as to the position in other centres for surplus tomatoes, but so far all the replies have pointed to every market in New Zealand being well supplied , at present, and there seems no other out-! let than tho local buyers. ,
