> ♦ FINES FOB TERRITORIALS.' ' Certain Defence Forco regulations ar# rovoked and amended in the current "Gazette." It is now provided tlmt fines may bo awarded by officers of the Territorial Force for the following off«ncos:—For appearing on parade not in the order of the day, or with' clothing, arms, and accout cements dirty, incomplete, or improperly put on j inattention and minor irregularities on parade; neglect to notify change of address within fourteen days of such change; failure to produco his personal record-book; minor cases of noncompliance with ordors or neglect of duty; on transfer, failing to report arrival at his new address within fourteen days to nearest area sergeant-major; drunkenness. A commanding officer may iino a private soldier a sum not exceeding JSI, in which case the soldier ha 3 no right to claim trial by oourt-martial (unless awarded a fine of ill fordrunkenness). If in the interest of disciplmo the command- ij ing officer considers a fine unsuitable to '. tlte case, he will remand the offender, and mako application for the caso to be tried by court-martial, provided the oft'onco is one which cannot bp dealt, with in a' Magistrate's Cburt.
