THE OCEAN YACHT RACE.
MR. ERNEST DAVIS INTERVIEWED. (By Telegraph.—ProEa Association.) ' Auckland, March 14. The proposal to inaugurate an ocean yacht rare between Australia and. New Zealand lias been much.discussed in Auckland! yachting circles. Mr. Ernest Davis, the Auckland yachtsman, who returned from Sydney by the Moldavia this morn- r ing, was approached by a reporter for his opinion on the matter.; _ "I- lmvo- but little to say on the sulv ject," was his reply. "The issue was ' brought up by Mr. Wallio Marks. If the race materialises, and a vessel is required to meet any challenge that may bo made, and if the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron Committee here iiro satisfied for mo to do so,-I'shall bo glad to enter my boat. Not. otherwise." Mr. Dnvia added tliat lid supposed that the position now depended upon what was done' in Sydney. ■
